Juicy Smoothies for Breakfast

Strawberry, banana, and key lime smoothies make a great, goto breakfast on mornings where your time is short.
Banana Fruit Smoothie Ingredients: 1 cup Pineapple juice ~ 3 bananas sliced ~ 1 tbsp. honey ~ 2 cups ice. In a blender, combine pineapple juice, bananas, honey and ice. Blend until smooth. Pour into glasses and serve. Recipe: AllRecipes

Kiwi Smoothie Ingredients: 4 kiwi fruits, peeled and sliced ~ 2 small bananas, peeled and sliced ~ 1-1/2 cups low-fat yogurt ~ 2 tbsp. honey ~ 1/4 cup crushed ice ~ 1 cup milk

Mix ingredients in blender until smooth and well blended. Serve. Recipe: Nutribullet Recipes

Coffee Drinks

Well, don’t want to talk only desserts here! Cannot forget our drinks and a lovely cup of cappuccino in the morning or afternoon or a cup of iced coffee can just as much hit the spot for me as much as a chocolate ice-cream cookie can. And, I love making these at home even without a machine. Here’s a couple quick little recipes to satisfy your coffee fix too.

Basic Cappuccino 
1-1/2 c. strongly brewed coffee
1 c. skimmed milk
1 tsp. sugar

Put the sugar in the milk and thoroughly heat it in the microwave oven. Pour the milk in a blender and blend till it develops a thick layer of froth. You can also use a whisk for this purpose.

Brew the coffee till it is strong, and fill only 3/4 of your cup with coffee. Pour in the frothy milk and sugar mixture. Add in a pinch of cinnamon for a spicy flavor, or garnish the drink with some chocolate like I like to do!

Instant Cappuccino
1 c. Coffee Granules
1 c. Sugar
3/4 c. Powdered Chocolate Drink Mix
4 c. Powdered Milk
1/2 jar Flavored Creamer

Mix together all ingredients in a large bowl, and store it in an airtight jar.
Add 3 tablespoons of this mixture to 6 ounces of boiling water. Use a whisk or a milk frother to give it that real frothy appearance. Add more flavors like: cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, or vanilla extract.

Iced Cappuccino
So what if you want a cold coffee drink? No problem!

2 tsp. Instant Coffee
1 tsp. Sugar or a Low Calorie Sweetener
6 fluid oz. cold milk
3 tbsp. warm water

First, prepare a tall glass filled to the brim with ice cubes. Then, in a shaker or a jar that can be sealed, add in all the ingredients and shake thoroughly. Pour the drink into the glass.

NOTE: The strength of the coffee and the sweetness can vary as per your choice. If you prefer strong coffee, you may add some more coffee to the drink. The same goes for the sugar. As goes for the above mentioned recipes, even this drink can be varied with additions of chocolate, caramel, vanilla, or even hazelnut.

Glazed Cinnamon Rolls w/Milkshakes

What better way to wake up to breakfast than a homemade baked cinnamon roll baking in the oven and maybe instead of coffee or hot chocolate, a milkshake! Take your pick between traditional vanilla, chocolate or strawberry! This is sure a treat for me since I don’t make milkshakes enough around here. I think that is about to change!
I’m using Betty Crocker’s recipe for these, the only thing I altered was the raisins, but if you want to add those in, you can and I added that part in the recipe so you’ll know how to apply it. It’s not hard to follow along and it won’t be an all day process. I hope you try it out !

Ingredients for the rolls:
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2-1/2 cups Original Bisquick® mix
2/3 cup milk
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened

For the Glaze:
1-1/3 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk

Heat oven to 375°F. Grease bottom and sides of 13×9-inch pan. In small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons sugar and the cinnamon; set aside.

In medium bowl, stir Bisquick mix, 2/3 cup milk and 2 tablespoons sugar until dough forms. If dough is too sticky, gradually mix in enough Bisquick mix (up to 1/4 cup) to make dough easy to handle. Turn dough onto surface well dusted with Bisquick mix; gently roll dough in Bisquick mix to coat. Shape into ball; knead 10 times.

Roll dough into 15×9-inch rectangle; spread with butter. Sprinkle evenly with sugar mixture (add raisins as well if you choose to). Roll up tightly, beginning at 15-inch side. Seal well by pinching edge of dough into roll. Cut into 1-1/4-inch slices; place cut sides down in pan.

Bake 23 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool 5 minutes. Remove from pan. In medium bowl, mix powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons milk until smooth. Spread glaze over warm rolls. Makes 12 rolls. ENJOY!

NOW, for the milkshakes! Take you pick which one you want for breakfast! I think I’m taking the chocolate! 😀
Real Strawberry Milkshake
Choco Malted
2 c. milk
1 c. vanilla ice cream or frozen yogurt
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Sugar to taste
Blend in a blender until smooth. Add more or less ice cream for thicker or thinner milkshakes.
Top with cherry (optional).
4 or 5 lg. fresh strawberries,  hulled
1/3 c. instant nonfat milk powder
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Dash of salt
1 c. ice cubes and water
Combine all of the ingredients in a covered blender and blend until the ice melts. Top with cherry (optional).
1 cup Chocolate Milk
2 scoops Vanilla Ice Cream or frozen yogurt
1 tbsp Malted Milk Powder
Blend ingredients in a blender or drink mixer and enjoy. Adjust the ratio of milk to ice cream to make the shake thicker or thinner. Making chocolate milk shakes with chocolate milk, instead of chocolate syrup, provides for a smoother texture. Top with cherry (optional).

Summer Fruit Smoothies

I was thinking about fruit tonite and how much I love smoothies this time of the year in Florida, it’s so hot here and humid so a cold smoothie calms down not only my internal temperature but my mood too. And, if I’m going to indulge on a cookie or bun, washing it down with a glass of banana or strawberry smoothie is the perfect end to a lovely snack. Keep reading for the recipes for all three of my favorites: Banana, Strawberry, and Kiwi.

Strawberry Smoothie
1 cup or 6 large fresh strawberries
1 cup milk
1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
4 ice cubes

To create this strawberry smoothie recipe put all the ingredients in blender and blend until smooth. Pour into glasses and serve immediately. Serves 2.

Banana Smoothie
1/4 cup orange juice
4 bananas
3 scoops of plain ice-cream
2 tablespoons of golden syrup
3 tablespoons of plain yoghurt
Lemon juice (optional)
Sugar (optional)

Cut the bananas into small pieces and put in the blender. Add all the other ingredients. Blend on full for 20 seconds. Put lemon juice around the rim of the glasses then roll the rim in the sugar so it sticks to the lemon juice. Serve immediately. Serves 3.

Kiwi Cream Smoothie
2 kiwi’s, peeled
6 tbsp natural yogurt
1 tsp honey

To make this quick free kiwi cream smoothie recipe, peel kiwi fruit and pop into blender, add the natural yogurt and honey. Mix for 35 – 40 seconds and serve at once to enjoy the full benefit. 

Serves 2.
